Phoenix Redux
A downloadable game for Windows
The game is now completed. Phoenix was one of my favourite arcade games in the early '80.
The current version is a full game. The game can be played from level 1 to 5 and every next reiteration of the 5 original levels. Levels 1 to 5 are fully finished, with all the enemies, sounds, collisions, etc.
Like I did with Donkey Kong Redux, I am considering to create 3 extra levels for the Redux version, they will come later this year.

Great job! Though button assignments for "Shields Up" AKA Force Field and "Fire" should be swapped.
CTRL/V/Joypad B0 --> "Shields Up" | ALT/B/Joypad B1 --> "Fire".
That is how the control panel is laid out in the Arcade originals for Amstar and the widely popular/distributed Centuri license cabinets.
me too!
Great game, can someone help me? I would like to see the PhoenixRedux_010.zip version of this game, I see that it was released in 2019 but I don't know how to get that version, it only launches the last file. Thanks for your help.
Hi, I think I have saved that old version somewhere, consider it was not much more than a proof of concept. Out of curiosity, what do you need that for?
Hello my friend, I would like to know how the project began and how it has grown. Greetings.
Hi there tumixo,
I have found that alpha version and made it available for download, please grab it in the next days as I will remove it to avoid confusion with the downloads. Cheers
Thank you very much for uploading this great project my friend. It's excellent.!!!
Congratulations on completing it!
Great game. I like how the birds start off as space eggs. I would like a control option to have continuous fire by holding the fire button down.
Just wanted to let everybody know that the developer is maniacally analyzing the original game to reproduce it as faithfully as possible - down to the last micromovement. Once the game is finished, even the most expert player will have a hard time spotting any difference from the original.
I remember being a little kid and watching my parents play this on the Atari 2600. It looked so awesome at the time! Definitely interested in this project and would love to give it a go when it is further along in development. Thanks!
